1. What this policy is

This Acceptable Use Policy states, in plain language, the conduct rules for everyone who uses Luminid: job seekers, employers, recruiters, and visitors. It is part of our Terms of Service (see the Prohibited Conduct section there for the full legal list). Where this policy and the Terms overlap, the stricter rule applies.

Luminid exists to replace claims with evidence. Every rule below protects that. If a behavior would make a verification mean less, it is not allowed here.

2. No impersonation

Be yourself, and only yourself.

  • Do not create an account under a name or identity that is not yours
  • Do not take a simulation for another person, and do not let anyone take one for you
  • Do not pose as an employer, a company representative, or a Luminid staff member
  • Do not maintain multiple job-seeker accounts, including to retry simulations or evade a restriction

A verification is a record that a specific person demonstrated a specific skill. Impersonation breaks that record for everyone, so it results in immediate account termination and invalidation of every affected result.

3. No automated simulation taking

Simulation responses must be your own independent work, produced during the session, without help from other people or tools, unless the simulation instructions expressly permit a specific resource.

  • Do not use AI tools, scripts, browser extensions, or any automation to generate, draft, or complete simulation responses
  • Do not receive live help from another person during a simulation
  • Do not copy, photograph, record, or share simulation content, questions, or criteria
  • Do not attempt to probe or reverse-engineer the scoring system through repeated or manipulated submissions

Luminid uses technical integrity measures during simulation sessions. Violations lead to score invalidation, and, where a result was already shared or relied upon, notification to affected parties.

4. No scraping

Do not harvest data from Luminid.

  • Do not use bots, crawlers, scrapers, or bulk-download tools on any part of the platform
  • Do not extract job-seeker profiles, verification records, job listings, or assessment content into external datasets
  • Do not use Luminid data to build, train, or improve any external product, service, or model
  • Do not circumvent rate limits, access controls, or authentication to reach data you were not given

Public pages exist so that individual people can confirm individual claims. They are not a dataset.

5. Employers: no discrimination

Employers and recruiters on Luminid must not use verification results, profile data, or anything else obtained through the platform to discriminate against any job seeker on the basis of race, color, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, pregnancy, marital or family status, veteran status, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.

A verification is evidence about a piece of work. It is never a proxy for who someone is, and it must never be used to infer or filter on a protected characteristic. Employers must apply meaningful human review to every hiring decision, must not auto-reject anyone based solely on an automated score, and are responsible for complying with the employment and anti-discrimination laws of every jurisdiction where they hire, including AI-in-hiring disclosure and audit laws where they apply.

Employers additionally must not post job listings that are not genuine open positions, must not charge job seekers any fee at any stage, and must not use job-seeker data for anything beyond the specific hiring process it was shared for.

6. Employers: simulations are never free labor

A simulation is a work sample, not a work order. Employers who create or attach simulations must follow all of these rules:

  • Simulations must be fictional work samples. Use invented companies, invented data, and invented scenarios that resemble the real work of the role
  • A simulation must not be used to obtain usable work product, deliverables, or free labor of any kind. If a response could be shipped, published, filed, or sold, the simulation is not allowed
  • A simulation must be completable within its stated time estimate. The estimate is shown to job seekers before they start, and it is a commitment, not a suggestion
  • Only skills mapped to Luminid's public skill taxonomy can grant verifications. A simulation cannot mint credentials for skills that do not exist in the taxonomy

Luminid reviews simulations against these rules and removes the ones that break them. An employer who uses a simulation to obtain real work loses access to the responses and faces suspension or termination. The people who did the work never bear the cost of an employer's violation.

7. General conduct

For everyone:

  • No harassment, threats, hate speech, or abusive messages to anyone on the platform
  • No false or materially misleading profile, listing, or application information
  • No attempts to breach, disrupt, or test the security of the platform without written authorization (report vulnerabilities to hello@luminid.org instead)
  • No malware, spam, or unsolicited commercial messages through platform features
  • No use of the platform for any unlawful purpose

8. Enforcement

We enforce this policy with the smallest action that protects the integrity of the platform, and we escalate when the violation is deliberate or repeated. Depending on severity, enforcement can include:

  • A warning with a required correction
  • Removal of content or invalidation of affected simulation results
  • Suspension of the account while we investigate
  • Permanent termination of the account
  • Notification of affected job seekers or employers where a shared result was invalidated
  • Referral to law enforcement where the law requires it

If your account is suspended and you believe we got it wrong, you can appeal following the suspension appeals process in the Terms of Service. To report a violation by someone else, email hello@luminid.org with the subject line "Acceptable use report". Reports are read by a person.
